Welcome to the newly opened Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Stay with us and explore New Bedford’s rich history and culture; the City of New Bedford is truly a gem waiting to be discovered!  At the height of the Whaling Industry, New Bedford became the richest city per capita in the world with its biggest industry being the export of whale oil.  As the oil was most commonly used to fuel laterns, New Bedford became known as the "City that Lit the World" and inspired Herman Melville's Moby Dick.  It has since been one of the largest cargo ports in the United States, an active "station" on the Underground Railroad, and flourished with its current fishing industry.

Today, the historic heart of New Bedford is preserved as the New Bedford Whaling National Historic Park.  The cobblestone streets are lined with historic merchant buildings and are illuminated with lanterns.  New Bedford is home to the Whaling Museum, the Ocean Explorium, Seamen's Bethel, the meticulously restored vaudeville era Zeiterion Theater, historic whaling boat captain's mansions, art galleries, boutiques, restaurants and the world-class Buttonwood Park Zoo.

The Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in New Bedford is located on New Bedford's historic working waterfront and within walking distance of all the Historic New Bedford attractions.  In addition, we are located across the street from the New Bedford State Pier, home of Seastreak Fast Ferry servicing the beautiful island of Martha's Vineyard.

Our beautiful hotel newly opened in June of 2010 and features 106 deluxe rooms including 28 suites.  The hotel offers an indoor pool and jacuzzi, fitness center, guest laundry and business library.  All guests enjoy a complimentary buffet breakfast, and complimentary high speed internet access.  Our full service 3,000 square foot Waypoint Event Center is located in a renovated whale-era oil refinery and opened its doors in October 2010.

Developed by the Lafrance Hospitality Company and is the first hotel in the city in over 40 years.
