New Bedford, MA – June 30, 2026 – Lafrance Hospitality is proud to celebrate the completion of Elmwater Landing, a thoughtfully restored residential community in the heart of New Bedford’s historic waterfront district.
The project transformed a former window manufacturing building into 19 modern apartments, including 15 one-bedroom and 4 two-bedroom residences. Since opening in March, the community has experienced strong leasing demand, with only two apartments currently available.
“Elmwater Landing represents our commitment to preserving New Bedford’s architectural heritage while creating high-quality housing that meets the needs of today’s residents,” said Sean Lafrance, Co-CEO of Lafrance Hospitality. “We’re thrilled by the community’s response and grateful to the many partners whose expertise and collaboration helped bring this vision to life.”
The extensive renovation included the replacement of all windows and a complete modernization of the building’s interior. Each apartment features thoughtfully appointed kitchens with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, new bathrooms, and contemporary finishes throughout. The redevelopment also preserved many of the building’s original architectural elements including exposed brick walls and historic timber beams, creating a distinctive blend of historic character and modern living.
Lafrance Hospitality extends its sincere appreciation to the many organizations whose expertise and collaboration helped bring Elmwater Landing from vision to reality. The company is especially grateful to BayCoast Bank for its financing partnership; RT Architects for its thoughtful architectural design that honored the building’s historic character while creating modern living spaces; Bristol Pacific Homes for its craftsmanship and dedication throughout construction; Dorfman Capital for its financial partnership; Lanagan & Co., Inc. for its successful marketing and leasing efforts; and the City of New Bedford for its continued support of downtown revitalization and adaptive reuse projects.
“Projects like Elmwater Landing are only possible through strong partnerships,” said Sean Lafrance. “We are deeply appreciative of the talented professionals, financial partners, and public officials who shared our vision of preserving an important historic building while creating exceptional new housing opportunities in downtown New Bedford.”
Located within walking distance of New Bedford’s vibrant waterfront, restaurants, museums, shops, and downtown businesses, Elmwater Landing further strengthens the city’s ongoing revitalization by introducing high-quality housing while preserving an important piece of its architectural history.
